Blumhouse Productions

In 2000, Jason Blum founded Blumhouse Productions and became well known for their low-budget but high-profit horror films that have drastically changed the genre. Blumhouse gained huge recognition after producing Paranormal Activity (2007) which was made for only $15,000 but grossed almost $200,000,000 worldwide. This allowed Blumhouse Productions to create their business model – producing films with low budgets but allowing directors creative freedom. This quickly became their signature approach. Movies like Sinister (2012), Halloween (2018), The Purge (2013) and Get Out (2017) are considered to be one of the most successful horror films of the 21st century. Blumhouse Productions has received multiple awards, including an Academy Award for Get Out and are being credited for reviving mainstream horror. Blumhouse mostly focuses on psychological tension and unexpected twists. These factors influenced False Alarm, because similarly to Blumhouse films, False Alarm also blends suspense and humour, manipulating the audiences expectations and then revealing comedic twists.
