The set is based all in one location with red lighting present in almost every scene. It is indoors in an apartment. The first scene is set in a living room, with a red light illuminating the actors. The actors are sitting on a sofa, watching a movie on an iPad that is resting on a coffee table. For the first scene, Dave will be clutching a sofa cushion to show that he is scared. The red light and the iPad display is the only source of light.
For the hallway scene, the only source of light is going to come from the bedroom, again only using the red light. Dave and Mike will slowly approach the door equipped with only a fire poker. The mysterious light emerging from the bedroom builds tension.
The bedroom will not be lit up, the image will be enhanced in post production. The red light will now be coming from outside the bedroom, creating shadows and outlines for Mike and Dave. Bartholomew will be under a bedsheet fidgeting on the ground. The boys help him up and leave the bedroom.
The last shot is filmed from a low angle, the actors are now walking towards the camera and out of the frame. This suggests that the boys have overcome the fear by depicting them authoritatively. The red lighting is no longer present, showing that Dave’s perception and fear have gone.
The scene cuts to end credits, which is red text (colour coded with the red light theme) on a black screen.
